David Ellis has been a CPA since 1987. Prior to that time he held an Enrolled Agent’s license with IRS. Upon graduating from USC he started his career as a staff accountant at Burl J. Ellis Accountancy Corporation which was the predecessor entity to Ellis & Ellis CPAs Inc. For over 30 years he has performed accounting assignments in just about every industry imaginable including mining, oil and gas, the restaurant industry, retail, legal, medical, security, national defense, the entertainment and construction industry.
David is a frequent writer and speaker on the tax aspects of divorce, same sex marriage, trust and estate, and other general tax subjects. He has provided continuing education services to The California Society of CPAs, The California Society of Enrolled Agents, and the Professional Fiduciary Association of California. He has also served as a tax advisor to the Office of the County of Los Angeles Legal Council on matters of trust, estate, and corporate taxation in probate litigation.
David holds a Bachelor of the Arts degree from the University of Southern California and he completed the classes required to sit for the CPA exam at California State University Los Angeles. While at USC, David was a member of the Trojan Debate team and completed successfully on a national level in the Cross Examination Debate Association graduating Cum Laude and earning a lifetime membership in the Forensic Honor Society.
